Real-E-Racing - The Fusion of Physical & Virtual Motorsport
The Overview
Racing Sim videogames are very popular and have now achieved a level of realism in physics, graphics, sound and environments which makes them difficult to tell apart from the actual physical motorsport you watch on TV. But so far nobody has managed to make that final step of successfully merging the physical with the virtual together into a single real-time format.
Pitching gamers and eSports teams against professional racers will create a global gaming and eSport phenomena, an entirely new spectator experience and global advertising opportunities.
Real-E-Racing is a software system that acts as a digital ‘bridge’ connecting the physical with the virtual, enabling millions of gamers to race against their heroes in real-time!
The Problem
Motorsport faces numerous challenges to its profitability; shrinking TV audiences, higher broadcasting and race admission costs, together with growing competition from eSports, especially amongst young motorsport fans.
This shift is because the TV / streaming broadcast experience has remained fundamentally the same since its inception e.g. static camera shots/angles and limited viewer interaction, but gaming and eSports creates so much more engagement, connection, and interaction.
Real-E-Racing was devised to bring together the global motorsport and eSport fanbases to enjoy racing in a totally new way.
The Strategy
Real-E Racing connects the physical racing cars telematic data to Racing Sim videogames in real-time.
It does this by using specific telematic datasets from the physical car; position, orientation, steering angle, acceleration, speed and braking etc.
Throughout a physical race, these datasets are transmitted OTA (over the air) to the race teams server and from there, the data is collated into a Digital Twin / Simulation of the physical race and is streamed directly to the Racing Sim videogames, recreating the physical race in-game, all in real-time.
With all the action taking place within the videogames photo-realistic 3D environment, other opportunities are available, namely for spectator interaction and ‘out-of-this-world’ advertising experiences.
The Output
Real-E Racing creates a new gaming, eSports and spectator format in motorsport entertainment.
Real-E-Racing is a global product with Pay-per-play and Pay-per-view revenue models scaling to a motorsport audience of more than 2 billion.
Gamers around the world will enter a new era of real-time gameplay, racing against the best drivers in the world!
eSports stadium events and competitions would pitch the best virtual racers against professional racers for the first time at the same time!
The checkered flag has dropped on the old world of motorsport. Now is the time to accelerate into the limitless potential of the virtual one.
Buckle up…
